Take a look at John 6, 15-21: The disciples went out onto the sea in a boat to cross over to Capernaum and Jesus did not accompany them. The sea became violent as the waves were coerced by a great wind. The disciples rowed over three miles in the great storm before Jesus walked upon the water to meet them. The Gospel of John says in verse 21: “Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land wither they went.”
This is profound for many reasons. The Gospel says that when the disciples “willingly” brought Jesus into the boat, the issue was resolved “immediately”, and before they received Him at all, Jesus simply said “It is I; be not afraid”. This is a perfect testament of faith, trust and manifestation. The disciples were given the truth in the middle of a terrifying situation, they had faith that what they were perceiving was truth, and then they accepted the truth into their ship. Immediately after they accepted this truth, their terrifying circumstance was resolved and their ship was securely anchored on shore.
Now let’s look at John 1:1 and read it aloud: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus is “the Word” and He was with God at the very beginning. Flip over to Genesis 1:26 just for a moment to read about how man was created: from a concept being discussed among more than one—“And God said let us make man in our image after our likeness.” In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God with the Holy Spirit, for our God is one in three.
Returning to John 6, we can now see this situation at a much deeper, spiritual level. If our hearts are the ship and the storm that we are facing in life is the raging sea, then the Word of God, who is Jesus, is the answer to immediately resolve the issue. When we willingly accept Jesus into our heart, it is true that we start a process which is edified through the Word of God, however the solution is indeed immediate. By accepting Him, we become a new creation immediately. Flip over to 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” The old “you” is replaced with the new you immediately when you choose to make Jesus your Lord and Savior. From that point forward, you walk upon dry land and He will keep you in perfect peace that surpasses all understanding.
